I think that Synchronet uses an old version of the SSH protocol of which the openssh project dropped support for. No wonder the error I get is "Handshake failed" - but with Putty it works (as it still supports that version of the protocol).

    Am I correct?

Not really. The Crypto library we are using supports a cryto algorithm that the OpenSSH project has deprecated support for. There are ways (e.g. command-line options) to make the openSSH client work with Synchronet still.

I'm sure DM will chime in on this, I have never used anything *but* putty or Syncterm to connect to KK4QBN, and have never had the issues you are having. <shrug>

How can I get it to work then?

Someone else has posted the necessary openSSH command-line to make the client connect (here on DOVE-Net). I don't have it memorized.

And just to complete the thread, there's a new FAQ on this topic here: http://wiki.synchro.net/faq:tcpip#ssh_kex_algo
