My dad had a Roland MT-32 in the late 80s - I'm pretty sure he bought one soon after they came out. I heard they were released in 1987, which sounds about right. He bought it mainly for use with his synthesizer, for music, but we found it also had support as a sound device for many MS-DOS games.
I bought a used one of my own in 2004 from eBay, and later resold it. But now I'm thinking of buying one again.. I'd probably use it mostly for music. I've heard there were 2 versions of it, and I'd probably be interested in finding one of the 'new' versions. I've heard the new version fixed a buffer overflow error, and also had a headphone jack in addition to the 2 separate audio output jacks. I've also seen firmware ROM update chips for sale, which I've heard fix the buffer overflow issue. It seems the 2nd version is fairly rare though.

This is vintage hardware I used it in midle 90's to run loops with a Roland sequencer. I was a very small black box doing his job pretty well at the time. How much will cost a thing like that now?
