I have a friend or two that are trying to get me to start colab'ing on BandHub.com. I was wondering if anyone here was familiar with it?

If so, what do you use to go from guitar to computer? I have an irig2, but it's not compatible with Windows - so was wondering if I could from from guitar -> irig -> ipad -> windows and if that would work.

Can you just record into your iPad and then export?

Well, it's not taht easy - it requires a webcam as well, so you get the video from there and the audio is the line-in. It's actually very cool once everything is working... You can basically build up a song with however-many people from around the world and it works really well; I recommend it.

I got it working today, but only had a chance to play around with it for a little bit. Here's what I bought and how I set it up.

I bought a USB audio interface from Guitar Center - a UR12. It was $99 but you could probably find it cheaper online, or perhaps something similar. You just need something to go from instrument to computer via USB

I bought a $20 webcam at wallmart (pricematched an amazon price)

Now, you may need some sort of guitar processing software running.. some people use a DAW, I use a copy of Amplitube that I was able to download because I purchased an irig for my ipad ages ago.

Next, I installed the UR12 drivers and plugged it in. The bandHub recording app lists it in the 'input devices' straight away, I didn't have to do any kind of configuring. I had Amplitude running while the bandhub app was running and I could tweak my tone etc..

From there I created a test "colab" to try recording a few test tracks and it worked well. Next I'll need to start a project and actualy practice for the first time in a year.. I'm a little rusty. :(

I haven't used BandHub.com, but to record guitar on my computer, I've used a 1/4" audio-to-USB cable, similar to this one: http://www.amazon.com/ClearClick-Guitar-to-USB-Cable/dp/B00FJB1J4Q
That isn't the exact brand I've used, but it seems to work. However I've noticed with such devices, there sometimes seems to be a slight delay
between when you play a chord/string on the guitar and when you hear it on
the PC. I think the audio driver can be switched into a different mode for less latency though.. With software such as Mixcraft (Windows music
recording software) or Rocksmith it seems to work alright. Rocksmith
included its own audio-to-USB cable, which is one of the ones I've used.

Sometimes, a plain audio cable plugged into your PC's line-in (or mic-in
with the right volume level adjustment) works too.
