Speaking of amps I had a Peavey Classic VTX series
when I was a teen-ager. It's the model before Chorus -
this one has a phase shifter built in. I was using it
with a local gospel group I was with, and it was too
loud, so I unplugged one of the 12" Scorpions. Then
I learned about the slave jack and started running
straight to the sound board and using the speaker as
a monitor. Then I realized I was carrying this HEAVY
amp and just using the pre-amp, so I found a rack
mount effects unit (Digitech DSP 256 XL) and a tube
rack mount preamp.
I then did something I've regretted... you guess it.
Sold the Classic. A few months ago I started looking
for another one. Finally found one on eBay WITH the
foot switch - original owner, etc. Was "local pick
up" only but I looked and it was just outside Memphis!
(I live about an hour plus North) Several days and bids
later and I bought it for $150! Drove down, picked it
up, got some contact cleaner for a couple of dirty
pots and it's GREAT! The first night I played for
about 2 hours, just different stuff. :-)
