    I'd like to welcome everyone to MusicalNet. This message area, Music Discussion, is an area for talking about music in general - Bands you like, albums you like, music reviews & recommendations, etc. So I welcome anyone who wishes to discuss music!

    I have a confession to make. There's this band I really, really like and I don't know why. People laugh and call them a "boy band" or "for chicks" band.
    I can see where they're coming from, but so many of their songs seem to fit
    my evenings sitting at the PC or gaming or cleaning house and workin' out...

    This band is known as Muse.

    There, I feel alot better now.

    Some other bands I like are also kinda loopy but it's just my style...

    -Nine Inch Nails (of course)
    -Franz Ferdinand
    -Pink Floyd
    -No Doubt
    -Sublime, for that matter
    -Soundgarden/whatever his new band is

    I could go on but hmm now I'm thinking I like the 90's grunge era of all that..

    Also all the great classic rock bands, ACDC, 80-90's heavy metal, no glam rock, no country!

    I like a couple of the Johnny Cash remakes he did, incase they count as
    country :) like "Hurt" and whatever else... there's a song he did that's great called "God is gonna cut you down". It's not country.

    I'm also surprised Guns and Roses is back with a new album after ~15 years.
    I remember wearing out the appetite for destruction cassette when I was a kid. His new stuff is... well, it's not bad at least!

    Hmm what else did I listen to until it was worn out...

    I could go on but I want to see someone else take a turn at ranting.

    these are the ones I agree with. I also think that "Electric Six" are by far the best rockband in the world (not counting metal, punk, hardcore, Oi! etc.). Their lyrics are ridiculous, but the wide range of sounds, styles and themes is unmatched by any other band carrying the "rock" label.

    Also, I'm very much into bands like blood for blood and the likes. There is a german band called "Troopers" - that I also like. Also, I stilllisten to my old "Vibrators" and "The Clash" tracks.

    So, who's next?

    Just went to the latest meeting of MSA last night - Memphis
    Songwriter's Association. My wife and I performed a song we
    wrote for our youngest son's wedding a few weeks ago...

    I would post a link but I don't have it online yet...

    I was like that for a LOOONG time... I'm 46 and have been playing guitar
    since I was 14. I picked up the mandolin, banjo, bass, etc. over the years
    but only started writing about a year and half ago. It's weird because
    people assume because of my age and ability that I've been writing for
    years, but I haven't. I think I have enough musical background that it
    comes easier for me.

    That being said, just relax and see what comes out!
