• Just thinking today

Was just thinking earlier about some concerts I've been to over the last few years, I don't get to make it out to many as they tend to be too expensive.

The ones that were the most fun were in smaller venues or close up (of course heh) two down here I will probably always remember fondly, were both at the Florida Theater, they were Meatloaf and Weird Al. Meatloaf was fun because I had never seen him in person before. It was funny I remember he had poked fun at a guy down in the front row, and the local paper ripped him for it the next day. I remember thinking, well, I don't think the guy was bothered that much getting some attention from Meatloaf. Though I have been the brunt of a wannabe stand up comics jokes, so I don't know, guess it depends on the person really.

Weird Al was a lot of fun too, it wasn't too long after his parents' death from carbon monoxide poisoning, he was like 30-45 minutes late getting on stage, but I tell ya the guy is a master at the quick change, he had a different costume for EVERY song, not kidding. It was kind of funny too, because the cheerleaders that came on stage during "Smells like Nirvana" were just outside the tour bus standing right by me when I was waiting to go inside. The bus had to park in front of the theater, so some late comers probably actually saw him when he
    got off the bus.

I'm a singer/songwriter and have discovered house concerts. THAT is
where you really get up close and personal with the artist. If you're
looking for a full blown rock concert with lights & pyro, you won't
get it, but if you're looking to connect with an artist and hear
"stories of the road," songwriting inspiration, etc. then you
    can't beat it!

Weird Al was a lot of fun too,

Have never seen him in person but I think that would be fun. :-)
I'm an Al fan from way back.

I like Weird Al too and have been so since the late 80s. Always fun to hear his stuff, although these days it's not quite as funny as it used to be because I don't listen to much pop music anymore - so I just don't know the popular songs these days.

LOL - I know what you mean. I hear something then have to search out the
"pop" song so I "get" it. :-)

Or I'll hear something in a store and think, "so *THAT'S* where that
    came from..." :-)
