  • Interesting concert stories

    I'd like to welcome everyone to MusicalNet! This message area was set up for people to share interesting concert experiences. So, does anyone have an interesting concert experience they'd like to share?

    For me, I suppose one thing that came as a bit of a surprise to me is the difference in audiences at Rush concerts vs. other concerts I've been to
    (Paul McCartney, Blue Man Group, The Doobie Brothers). I've been to 2 Rush concerts, both of which had a considerable number of people smoking illicit substances, which is something I didn't really expect. I've wondered if it' ssomething different about Rush's music, or if it's something else.

    Well, I haven't been to alot of actual concerts, but a few.

    Sadly, one of them was a Phil Collins/Genesis concert my mommy dragged me to.

    It actually wasn't that bad, but people to the left and right of us were blazing up in plain sight. This was to grown folks music too, it wasn't exactly a party people's type of concert. My mom tried to ignore it or otherwise not let on to me about the activities we were witnessing, but even as a kid I knew better than her and almost wanted to ask for some ^^

    The point is it was actually everywhere there, which you wouldn't expect.

    haha, I would've liked to go see Phil Collins/Genesis. :) I know what you mean though. My mom dragged me to a concert once that I wasn't really interested in. She bought me a concert ticket for my birthday once, for someone who she was into. I'm not sure if she thought I liked him or if she just wanted to take me to a concert. He wasn't bad, but he just wasn't an artist I was into that much. :)

    Seems most poeple in this echo (so far) are talking rock, but I'm an
    old school Country fan. My first "professional" concert was George
    Jones back in the 80's. My dad took me and he bought me a T-Shirt
    that said "I saw No Show Jones" and I wore it proudly. :-)

    When my wife and I were dating a couple years later, my dad took
    both of us to see George Jones again. That was her first ever
    concert. We've both been to many more concerts over the years,
    but she remembers that as the "first."

    When our sons came along we had the opportunity to see George
    again at Opryland (back when it was a theme park) so it was
    their first pro concert too.

    My wife and I have seen him twice more. Then when they announced
    his recent death my wife reminded me that it was her first...

    There's a family story about my nephew and his first trip to
    "Memphis in May" (aka Beale Street Music Festival). He was
    about 15 and said, "what's that smell?" in a loud voice.
