New here, so I'll say hello and give a quick introduction. I'm a BBS'er who called boards in the 90's (Schenectady, Albany, "Capitol District" NY) but was lured away by the Internet. I finally discovered telnet BBS'es a few years ago, and have hovered around a few favorite boards off and on since late 2016. Lately, I've felt the need to spread out in the community... so I've been checking out other BBS's both new and old that I've never checked out before. It's been a lot of fun and feels a lot like when I first started returning. (Sad to say that I don't think anything online will feel as amazing as when I first discovered BBS's in the dialup days, though!)
this BBS at that time. I had previously run a dialup BBS from 1994 to 2000, which I took down when usership dropped significantly. I thought people had moved onto the internet at that time.
I never really got the chance to run my own BBS... just got to be a "Co" on a good friend's system. I did have some duties beyond just better access though... I was able to maintain and moderate a small QWK echomail/netmail network remotely. I believe I was even able to add and remove the areas remotely, but perhaps I did those at the Sysop's house... I was at her place almost as much as my own home at that point. *giggles*
I almost started my own early on in my return to telnet BBS'ing... but I ended up going to college on a huge whim (early mid-life crisis!) and never had the time. I still think I might someday.
