    I'm working on software that works with FTN formatted messages and I'd like to set up something where I can send
    and receive some test messages, both Netmail and Echomail. Is a Point the right way to do that? How do I go about
    setting one up?

    Sure, that should work.

    How do I go about setting one up?

    Assign yourself a point address from the Boss, your node and add the point address to your linked nodes like any other link. Maybe .1.

    Then setup your point with another BBS or point software. I have used HPT,Binkd and golded for that purpose in the past but any combination of software you like is fine.
