Needless to say, they tossed them. They did make cool, but really large, windshimes, though. 8)
I used to do that with dead HDDs, pop em open and remove the platters. Make windchimes of the platters and ash trays of the cases.
Cool.
But I don't think you could make an ash tray out of these. They were old disk packs. 18" in diameter. I did think about using the disk cover as a cake protector, though.
... I'd love to, but my favorite commercial is on TV.
