    Hi all

    Busy weekend of lawns, beach galas and BBQing here.

    Summer has been off to a slow start but things are improving.

    The pain is, the weather only gets better after I have returned to work.

    Many across New Zealand and also grumbling about the weather / lack of summer.

    Busy weekend of lawns, beach galas and BBQing here.

    Temps got warm enough to melt off most of the snow and ice... so this
    morning it is getting cold enough to start all over again. ;) This time
    looks like mostly snow so won't be as bad. It will get much colder... well below 0C and even below 0F... tonight.

    Many across New Zealand and also grumbling about the weather / lack of
    ummer.

    Considering what we are getting lately, I would rather have a cooler Summer
    and save some of the missing heat for the Winter. ;)

    eek, guess I should be happy with 13 Celsius but I wish it was more like 20

    Yes I tend to agree here... I actually wonder if in future years past tourism to find the warmer climates will shift to looking for the cooler ones instead..

    Hahah, OK can try to do this but it may be a bit manky by the time it turns up in the post :)

    To be fair most of my stuff gets overcooked, or at least my wife thinks this :) But I can't handle something that looks like it just died bleeding out on my plate... but hey that's just me..

    I'd be lucky to see snow about 5 days a year and when I do the city I live in tends to shutdown... the school kids love that ;)

    That is how most of my travel already works. Towards the end of Summer,
    late August/early September, I tend to head North. That could be because
    that is where the Great Lakes are, though, and I think they, as the name indicates, are Great. ;)

    Same here

    Since we moved up here in May 2023, my weekends are basically tied up doing "property" things - whether that be mowing, snipping, cutting down trees, planting trees, repairing very old house, and many other things...

    Here in Vic, we haven't had a proper, traditional hot summer since the year before Covid - which, honestly, probably not a bad thing as proper hot
    summers here often lead to bad bush fires destroying way too much!

    Its only in the last couple of years that those who lost their homes near my parents property in 2019 have just had their new homes built. Insurance companies take so long to settle claims here - should be illegal!!

    The properties surrounding ours are loaded with tall dry grass ready for a
    high speed grass fire to come & destroy us, so I am doing what I [reasonably] can with what resources I have to be somewhat prepared...

    Otherwise, things are good! We've planted some 30odd new fruit trees, olive trees, avocado trees, etc... Just takes lots of water to keep them alive at
    the moment :D
