Sounds wonderful, now if only it was available in a native Linux version. I've tried all the ones currently available for Linux and not liked any of them. I especially miss the ANSI Fonts that were part of TheDraw.

Sounds wonderful, now if only it was available in a native Linux version. tried all the ones currently available for Linux and not liked any of them especially miss the ANSI Fonts that were part of TheDraw.

Maybe one day if I ever install Linux. I use it at work everyday and cannot stand all the hoops I have to jump through to make things work. :(

That's odd, I rarely have any problems running things on mine. Might be the flavor of Linux you're using. Mint just works.

Yup, Windows defender does not like code I use as it is not signed, and gives false readings.

Same thing it does with Renegade, as I include NetFOSS and NetFOSS triggers it.

There's nothing in it, and it works perfectly fine.

I just don't have patience to run differnt OSs anymore. I write stuff for DOS, this was the exception. I lived in OS/2 for 15+ years. Then finally back to the hurdle of windows, since all my BBS stuff is DOS, I am on Win7 because windows keep screwing with the NTVDM on 32bit builds causing old door games not to work, and I have 1200 of them online.

Maybe one day I'll get the urge, but not anytime soon.

Yup, Windows defender does not like code I use as it is not signed, and give false readings.

The same thing happened long ago when I published a D'Bridge update that caused a false-positive in something called "Clam AV" or whatever ridiculous halfassed scanner for Linux. The particular Sysop at the time made a huge stink about it and insisted that I fix my code when it was not my problem.

This looks cool. Is a Linux version available? This looks like it's a Win console app, but I use Linux at home (both for my BBS PC and main PC), and not sure there's an easy way to run this in Linux. Maybe with wine, but I' not sure if wine runs console mode apps; I also don't have wine installed o my BBS machine.

No Linux, but I am told it works perfect with Wine.

The !ml suffix means it was flagged by Microsoft's machine-learning
heuristic model, not a signature match to a known-malicious sample.
Sabsik is a generic/heuristic detection family, notorious for
false-positiving on:

Small, unsigned, unfamiliar console executables

Programs compiled with Free Pascal/Lazarus (uncommon compiler low
reputation, unusual PE structure vs. typical MSVC/Delphi/PyInstaller
binaries Defender has lots of training data on)

Programs that do low-level console/graphics manipulation (this one
does direct screen buffer writes, keyboard hooks via Crt, file I/O
for image formats) — behavior patterns that overlap with what
some legitimate-but-unusual tools and malware both do

Unsigned executables with no reputation/telemetry history (no
code-signing certificate, low download count) - Microsoft's
cloud-reputation ("SmartScreen"/ML) system is much quicker to flag
rare, unsigned binaries

This is an extremely common complaint for small hobbyist/retro-computing
tools distributed as raw .exe files, especially ANSI-art / BBS-scene
utilities like this one (TheDraw-style editor) — they're niche enough
that few users have ever run them, so Defender's cloud model has no
positive reputation signal to counterbalance the heuristic flags.

I'll give it a try. Normally I wouldn't really want to install Wine for one program (my BBS PC doesn't have Wine), but this looks like a good ANSI editor. I do have wine on my main PC, so I could at least use it on my main PC.
