• Convert .msg to .pkt

From Joe@21:1/189 to All on Wed Nov 6 06:09:00 2019
Is anyone aware of a tool that will convert .msg files into .pkt format to be tossed with binkd. Specificly looking for something for *nix. I found an
old one in archive.org but it is for dos.

    Thanks

    Joe

A simple tool, not that I know of. Both husky's hpt and Synchronet and/or SBBSecho support *.MSG but neither is trivial to setup.

If you are looking for a tosser than you can also use crashmail. IF you looking
for something else, maybe you can explain what you are trying to achive. binkd
    does not toss anything.

I think Joe has a *.msg he wants to convert to a .pkt and send to it's destination with binkd.

Does crashmail support *.msg? If so, that might be what Joe is looking
    for.

To be clear, crashmail does support message bases in *.msg format (= a directory were every message is stored in a seperate .msg file). It also has the crashwrite tool that creates a .pkt file from a text file. I don't think Crashmail can convert a single *.msg file to a packet (but I might be wrong).

The Husky Project has a tool to do just that.

Thats exactly what i'm looking for. I've been playing with makenl mainly to learn it and part of the processing it will generate a .msg file to send a
mail to whoever you desinate for notification. This is more a curisoity
thing for me. I'm using HPT as my tosser and binkd as my mailer. From what I gather binkd doesn't support the .msg files so i'm looking for a way to
convert it so that it can be sent to a node.

"hpt pack" will pack outbound *.msg netmail into the outbound for binkd
    to send to the destination.

You'll need a NetmailArea line in your config with -b Msg pointing to the directory containing the *.msg.

The destination will also need to be listed in your links or route
    config.

If you're gonna do Crashmail on *nix och Linux, do check out the repo at Github. It's called Crashmail II.
