Hello all, I'm new here and thought I would introduce myself.
My call is KC1RAY, I'm a General class operator. I have been a HAM
for about 4 years. I got my license just before the covid lock down.

I am a trustee of a couple repeaters in the southeastern MA area.
I also operate the XLX097 Multi-protocal reflector, the URF097 reflector

I am the BBSing 2.0 founder but I run MBSE BBS and am one of its developers. I write the Cheepware line of BBS doors and utilities. I am starting to write ham radio software also.

Boy do I feel like an idiot, sorry about that.

I tried to get on the bbs with SyncTerm, but it only connected once
and errors as soon as I try to hit connect. Most likely on my end.
I was able to get on from the website. When I got to the point to logout
and then back in, I get an error "unable to connect".
Just so you know.

I was on your webite and I see you do many digital modes, but no FT8?
Maybe you have not had a chance to update the website.

I enjoy FT8 and FT4, I also like JS8CALL. I haven't done JS8CALL in awhile,
I dumped Windows and switched to Linux and have not gotten my favorite
HAM software installed yet.

Brent - KF6HDJ. I currently live in Pensacola and have been licensed for 30 years in October (Was taken abake that it has already been the long when I just renewed my license for the third time.).

Started as a Technician back in 96 (Almost typed No Code Tech!), been through more upgrades than I care to rememeber. Did the 5 WPM, and 13WPM when I got Generaled. Actually I did the 13WPM about 5 times. Tried to upgrade to Advanced multiple times but the math kept killing me. Upgraded to Extra 2 years ago with the help of the W4EEY YouTUbe class!

If you are thinking of upgrading definately check out their classes. You can either wait until a new class starts or start right now with the saved videos from their previous class! I would not have been able to do it on my own. Most of the books out there (Especially the ARRL material), tend to take a kitchen sink approach to math. They throw all the forumals at you in a single chapter not clearly indentifying which ones go to which set of questions. So by the time you work through even half of them your brain is complete mush! W4EEY breaks down a single formula used for your specific formula and which parts are already given to you.

The web terminal sometimes has issues that are not on my end.

As for SyncTerm, make sure TERM is set to "linux", not "syncterm" as it is defauly in ST.

I do use digital modes but I much prefer SSB and AM over any of the digital modes for a good ragchew. If I'm just out to have a quick but friendly QSO, I'll use PSK31, RTTY, Feld Hell, or Olivia. I have a real soft spot for SSTV too.

I don't know anything about those modes, I know they exist, I have not been
at this that long, and my club is full of young guys, so Elmer to help
me along. I have a TNC that was gifted to me, but it sits in the box.
I have tried some packet with graywolf, but I don't know what I am
doing and I don't have anyone local that wants to play.
I will keep that on my list of things to do, that and learn CW.

I love RTTY, though it is rare to find anyone using it any more. I tried to do wone of the FELD HELL contests but there wasn't much activity and one of the other big contests was going on so I switched over to it.

I do love me some SSTV on 20M. Nobody has even been able to explain why 14.2300 seems to be the go to spot for POTA operations though! You have the entire band, and you have to pick the SSTV calling freq?

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against FT4/8, but I do with the operators would at least pop up and try one of the old keyboard modes now and then.

It might not look like much but it is nice to have, especially during

Me too, I haven't been on in a while. The last time I was, there was
a battle between the SSTV operator and a SSB operator. The SSTV
operator sending pretty wild images including the other guy call sign.
It was mildly entertaining. But I agree, know the band plan and stick
to it. Keep everyone happy.
