A sense of humor makes life liveable. I have a rather dry, droll, and if
it comes to my health, macabre sense of humor. I have told people I would rather die laughing than die crying.

I miss living in Lincoln City and flying kites. I miss driving to Portland from Lincoln City for the weekend to visit friends.

I am in Grants Pass, but i've had friends and family in Astoria, Beaverton, Lincoln City, Springfield, Cottage Grove, and Talent.

You know the Royal Trailer Park in GP? My parents used to manage that park
in the 90s. I attended the Tongue Point Job Corps Center in Astoria in '91.
I lived right near 185th in Beaverton. I lived right on Centennial

    Title: Crumbling Wall Coffee Cake
    Categories: Breads and, Breakfast
    Yield: 6 Servings

    1 1/2 Sticks Butter (6 Ounces);
    -Melted
    1/2 c Maple Sugar
1/2 c Fine Dry Bread Crumbs
    1 Egg
    1/3 c Granulated Sugar
    1/3 c Milk
    1 c Self-Rising Pancake Mix

Heat oven to 375 degrees F. In a medium sized bowl, mix together 1/2 cup
melted butter, maple sugar, and bread crumbs. Press the mixture
against the bottom and sides of a 1 quart ring mold. In another bowl,
break the egg and add the whilte sugar. Beat until fluffy. Add the
milk and pancake mix to the egg and sugar mixture. Stir lightly until
all ingredients are combined. Stir in 3 tablespoons of melted butter.
Pour the entire mixture on top of the maple sugar mixture already in
the ring mold. Bake for 25 minutes. Let the cake cool 5 minutes
before you turn it upside down on a warm platter and let it fall away
from the mold. It tastes best when served warm.

A Detective Needs Energy: Add more protein to your cake by mixing 1/2
cup of finely chopped pecans to the maple sugar mixture.

You know the Royal Trailer Park in GP? My parents used to manage that park in the 90s. I attended the Tongue Point Job Corps Center in Astoria in '91. I lived right near 185th in Beaverton. I lived right on Centennial Boulevard (sp?) in Springfield.

Yes, that trailer park is right next to a disc golf course, my favorite place to camp before the Supreme Court reversed their decision about Grants Pass.
The people who live in that trailer park have formed a surprisingly strong sense of community and they collectively volunteer to keep the river bank
clean in that area. Totally different from the "got mine GTFO" vibe of the newcomers who live along the "better" parts of the river. Easier to
recognize the humanity in the trailer park inhabitants.

I don't recall Beaverton well enough to remember 185th, but i remember Centennial Boulevard in Springfield. I seem to recall the center lane is
used for bikes, busses, and pedestrians, sandwiched in between opposite
flows of traffic on a busy highway.

The last time i was in Astoria, it felt like a tourist town with lots of weekenders coming out from Portland to have a good time and spend their
money. It was fun to watch the sea lions on the docks. There was good
food and fancy coffee to be found. :-)
