But my understanding of Fido is that netmails to a point should go to
that point's uplink/node (in this case to 2:341/66)?
But my understanding of Fido is that netmails to a point shouldUsually yes, but binkd doesn't route mails. It's the tosser that is responsible to put the netmail for the point into a pkt addressed to
go to that point's uplink/node (in this case to 2:341/66)?
it's boss.
Which tosser are you using?
Strange things happening over here. I'm newly rejoined to Fido after
20 years absence, so it's pretty sure the error is on my side. What
would cause my system to try sending netmail directly to a point?

If the point sysop were running a public binkd instance, you would be
able to send a netmail directly to the point.
Anyone wishing to test that is welcome to do so. It is not yet in the pointlist, but here is the connect info:

Oh, I before I forget, you need IPv6 for this. ;-)

Why a TRACE flag? :) How many systems would route netmail thru a
point. :D

Not many indeed. But it is technically possible...
