Here you go, a new thread to discuss how much you hate religion. It appears that this thread is needed here :)

Or, perhaps you could share why you really hate religion, what is the source of your anger and frustrtaion. And perhaps the religious could just let you talk, show some understanding, instead of fretting over whether your frustration means you won't be "saved."

I'll start: I love faith, but dislike religion. I don't hate it really, but I have my gripes. For one, I'm not particularly fond of religious people who are so entrenched in their own culture of belief that they have to step on the face of those who don't agree with every l-e-t-t-e-r of their own belief system. This goes for the adamant Christian, who erroneously believes that all but their own little piece of believers will have a great afterlife, all the way to the maniacal muslim, that believes that choppin' folks heads off will get them virgins in heaven. And please don't jump to correct me; I know that this doesn't represent all Christians nor all Muslims, but it does represent some of them.

But I haven't really touched on the part that I "hate," which is the culture of religious practice. I mean to say, the culture that is created when a bunch of people believe and act the same way over a long period of time. The culture portion of religion has nothing to do with faith. It has nothing to do with right and wrong. It has nothing to do with truth, or even reality. It has everything to do with tradition, and I find it disgusting because I find it is exclusionary. It cuts people out and calls them damned, simply because they don't live their faith the way you live your faith. Heck, the faith bit could be 99% the same, but if the culture bit varies, you're an accursed demon.

For me, faith has nothing to do with culture. I haven't found a religion that really understands that, but I'm looking around. I'm not looking for a new religion myself (the one I have is hard enough to deal with), but I am curious about it.

You can stop looking, it's not there.. Religion and Politics are so intertwined that there is no seperation. It keeps the war machine going and the rich get richer, while kids die on the battlefield, all fighting over the same God.

Keep your Faith, you don't need a building to have a church.. This THREAD serves the same purpose. yet you're not having to throw 10% or more of your earnings at a minister who lives in a multi-million dollar home.

Its simple, follow the 10 commandments, love God, Yourself, and Others.

People killing people over little differences written in a book by thousands of people and the same book has had chapters and chapters ripped from it, remember what churches have done through history, and religious fanatics are still doing today.

Keep your Faith. we all have the same God. when everything comes to light, a lot of people will be suprised. I cannot even pretend to know what, who, where, or when.. but I still keep my Faith.

That is faith and religion in a nutshell. Faith is completely and utterly different from person to person. That's why you have to make up your own religion. That's why there are so many believers who pick and choose what it is that defines their faith. Notice that I didn't say they pick and choose what they believe in, because that's not how faith works.

Faith creates religion. So, go ahead and keep your faith. One day, it will
    be a religion.

I'm happy to know, if it ever happens, I'll be long gone before then..
