• is this to ALL?

    Hello Vk3jed!

I am not sure what triggered the "to All". Usually, that only
happens when I create a brand new message. Does this one appear
    normal?

Yeah this one's fine. The attribution mart of the NNTP server must
    have gone screwy.

Sometimes I use Thunderbird for nntp, but most of the time I use OpenXP.
But the connection is to the same server: endofthelinebbs

Does *this* one arrive with a "to All"?

This one actually has two REPLYIDs (BEZ):

    MID: FE+Bp71G00B@
    BEZ: FEs9h84W00B@
    BEZ: 5F39147D.2138.dove-internet@freeway.apana.org.au

My guess is that the server resolves the second one, and finds your name?

Thanks. I think I know what's going on.

When I reply to a messag that is originally addressed to me, the message appears properly addressed to the sender.

When I reply to a message that is originally address to someone else, and
I just want to enter the conversation, then the message gets constructed
    to All. :/

Since you wrote this one to me, my reply should look normal - addressed to you.

OK, will be interesting to see what the pattern is. :)

Yeah the server's doing something with the reply ID.. DM should know, I think you're posting on a Synchronet system, IIRC.

Looks like it relies on reply kludges to get it right, and if you're not in the chain, your message is addressed to All.

Yep, it was addressed to Warpslide. :)

If you're connecting to a Synchronet NNTP service, then yes, it does try
to lookup the reference message and then use that message's "from" as
the "to" for the inbound message in absense of a "to" or
    "x-apparently-to" header.

    NOW, testing reply/follow-up via Thunderbird.
This was originally from Vk3jed and addressed to Warpside.
    I'm jumping into the conversation.

Will this be handled differently with Thunderbird?

Thank you. Looks like Thunderbird has no issues. But OpenXP is a little subjective. It may be a matter to be resolved for "OpenXP 5.0.46" <G>
