• Newsgroups and Crossposting

I haven't really participated in newsgroups much over the years, mostly
because of all the spam. But, there are a few I've been interested in
feeding to the board and reading, one of which is tx.general. There are some pretty dumb and annoying posts getting crossposted between that one, and ok.general.

I was wondering, for those of you who have been more active in usenet, if
many users still crosspost between groups. I've been contemplating limiting imported groups to NO crossposting in an effort to get rid of the junk.

Well, I do see a lot of cross posting in the two groups I follow (alt.philosophy and alt.survival), but for the most part, that's where the crap comes from, that either brings things into the realm of religious or political sh*t-flinging. But, it's not actual spam, nor is it entirely out of left field, and people seem to still respond quite a bit to it, so I'd probably advise first dealing with things as is until you figure out the dynamics of the particular groups you're following and determining how you want to set your filter rules from there.

Cool, appreciate the advice. Those two groups I mentioned aren't seeing
much traffic. There do seem to be a few people subscribed, but mostly
they're pretty quiet... Feel free to peek in and see the crap posted, it's pretty crazy...lol
