Well, I just got the straight skinny from Evan Elias about the Door MUD game. He says he's not currently allowing registration for it for a few VERY GOOD reasons:
1. He feels it's unethical to accept payments due to lack of new
releases & lack of support.
2. He doesn't want to maintain a Windows machine that he would need to generate reg codes.
3. He thinks there are too many active games relative to the size of
the player base.
& he gave me another good reason that I will not post here for his own security.
I received nearly the same reply. In addition, he said we are free to mirror the original DoorMUD site as we see fit. If anyone is interested, I can mirror the site. Although, I would point out that there are a few site already doing so.
What really bums me out is I can't register it so I can't get past lvl.7. That, & I can't use the editor to expand the game. I was really hoping to do that.

*wah*
Go with a real mud as a door. http://mudmagic.com/codes/download/ They are not really that difficult to set up. When I ran SBBS on Win32 I had 3 different ones I was playing around with. Smaug, CDMud & LPMud. Although I can't say I've seen one that was turn based, so if you are secure in that, I think you are out of luck.

If anyone is interested, I would be happy to have a go at installing one of these on the Masquerade. Just let me know what your favorite is andd I'll see
what kind of effort it takes.
Thanks for the suggestion.
