One thing that frustrates me is the price Microsoft charges for Windows licenses.. If I want to build my own PC, a non-upgrade copy of Windows 7 costs $299. That seems quite steep, when you could buy a whole PC for notIts sad. There should be a price between OEM and Retail. Like $159.

I think I've seen some stores that sell OEM licenses of Windows, with a more reasonable cost..

than that. Also, I think Apple only charges around $110 for OS X (and they don't have upgrade versions) - although it's somewhat hard to compare since Apple also makes their own computers. Linux is free, but then again, the people who make Linux aren't out to make a profit. There really aren't many OSes for the consumer market that you can compare to. I really think Microsoft
does have a monopoly (or is close to a monopoly).. I remember when Microsoft was being investigated for monopoly practices around 1997-1998, and I was disappointed when the judge decided not to follow through on splitting them up
or some other action.

That's cool.. I wonder how they do that when the full retail price for that is
$299 elsewhere (for the non-OEM version however).
