    Have you noticed the full court press by politicians at every level from city up to Obama and the progressive media to destroy our right to keep and bear arms after Sandy Hook? Yes these people have been pushing for an what they
    call an assault weapons ban when the killer at Sandy Hook left his in his car and used pistols. They do not even understand what an assault weapon is and don't care if hammers kill more people they just want to band them.

    I disagree with this to a point Jeff.. They know that he did not use that assault rifle. They are not jumping up and down telling people about it. I would bet that at least 80% of the people You met on the street and asked would
    still tell you he used an assault rifle. They don't know any different because the Govt and the media are laying low on that info. I don't believe all these gun bans and control of ammo is about keeping our streets safe so to speak. I believe it is a bit deeper than that. They know what they are doing, but I believe they are trying to keep the common law abiding person from realizing it. I hate to think of what the excuse will be the next time a shooting spree happens and all these gun laws are in effect. Oh well nobody is stopping them either.

    Yeah, I've noticed. The thing that I find funny is that 'assault
    weapons' don't even have an agreed upon definition. It's just a term
    utilized for its scare factor. Everybody with a brain knows that those demonized weapons are the same damn thing as any semi-automatic hunting rifle. Look up some of the clips on all of the media missteps about what was used at Sandy Hook (as well as some of the other mass murder incidents). It's pretty clear that they're jumping to conclusions that support the proposed weapons banning (as well as cementing as much public opinion as possible for it) that may not even have any basis in reality.
    It's just our country's tyrants getting spooked because of the masses of public opinion turning against them. They're starting to realize that people see them for the tyrants that they are, and they're afraid that people will organize and eventually take up arms for the precise reasons that the 2nd Amendment was originally instituted for.

    I posted a link to a clip. I am not sure if it was in this area or in the debate area, but it shows a news clip where the police actually find the assault rifle in the trunk of his vehicle, he never even brought it in to the school and the fact that he was laying dead in the school means he did not bring it back out and put it in his trunk himself. There were a lot of screwy things that went on and not reported aggressively by the media.     The original report was by NBC and was erronious. The state police confirmed it was the shotgun tht remained in the car and the Bushmaster along with the handguns were with the perp. Both sides of the fence are drumming up insane rants which is only compounding the issue.

    I am just curious as to what constitutes fact. Somehow I don't see what makes reports that You have seen of the so called officials reporting an incident, any more credible than officials of the same organization reporting an incident
    that he had seen. I just wonder when two people see a different report on the same incident, what makes ones report more credible given the same circumstances. Please, I hope it is not because the news on television or radio
    said so. Just curious as to how one determines truth.

    Hi Bill, I was merely pointing out how crazy it is getting lately. We seem to have so many reports saying so many different things, even contradicting each other. It was a tongue in cheek jab at our media. Depending on who is reporting
    and what the agenda it seems news sources can say whatever they want. When reports by them conflict, sad but true, it is hard to wade through the BS.

    Sorry, I wasn't involved in the original discussion with you, but I feel the need to chime in here a bit. Having worked in law enforcement in the past, I'm afraid that my own opinion on the matter would be that I wouldn't trust the news organization and I sure as hell wouldn't trust what the police are going to be saying about the issue. They'll do anything to protect public image as they feel the need to, and they bow to other concerns before sharing the actual facts with the public, as well.

    Jeff, there is no need to continue like you either know me or care to know me. You've been marked as someone who has no integrity by many members here and I've read first had your insane rants over and over. You've proved both to me, the rest of the board and probably to yourself (altough highly unlikely) you're conspiracy rants and your ultimate hatred over anything you can't control is first and foremost your own demon, one that consistantly eats away your minimal reasoning skills.
