Burgers: Wendy's has been a favorite of mine recently. I like their
Dave's burgers (single or double) - I think they're tasty, and they
seem fairly fresh too (and they say their burger patties are never
frozen - maybe that's true?).
I also like A&W's Papa Burger, Burger King's Whopper, and In-N-Out
burgers.
Mexican fast food: Admittedly I do like Taco Bell sometimes, but
also Del Taco and Taco Time (and I think Taco Time is mainly in the
northwest US). I think Baja Fresh and Victorico's are pretty good
too.
Pizza: These days, my favorites tend to be Papa Murphy's, Round
Table, and a couple that are more regional here (Abby's Legendary
Pizza and Belaggio's). For value, I think Little Caesar's isn't bad
for the price.

I've only had In-N-Out once in my life, when we were on vacation in Arizona. Again, I don't remember being like "zOMG" but I didn't complain, either.
Just a side note.. One time I was accidentally given someone else's order that had ... wings ... in it. I was like, "Ohhhh yeeaaah, Taco Bell has wings now!" because I had heard about it months prior, but then of course quickly forgot as I blew it off as something I would never try... Well, now that I had some in front of me, I may as well, right? They were actually not bad! I've had wings at plenty of bars that have been worse. So yeah, if you ever find yourself at a Taco Bell feeling adventurous, order the wings.
Speaking of sandwiches, there's a place that started locally here, slowly grew to open a couple more stores in town, and now suddenly has a bunch of them all over The States probably due to franchising. It's called Cheba Hut. Yeah, pot themed.. One of their slogans is "Where the only thing fried is the occasional customer" and their sandwiches are all strain names. All it takes is one try, though, and it would be anyone's favorite sandwich place ;). Their chebahut.com website shows all their locations.. maybe you're lucky enough to be near one?
This was in another message of mine, but In-N-Out here in AZ is crap compared to any of the ones I've been to in California (which is admittedly only three or four). Maybe all their ingredients dry out in shipping ;).

With the recent threads on fast food here recently, I thought of this..
Although fast food isn't necessarily healthy or has the best
ingredients, I think it can be okay in moderation, to pick up some fast food every so often. What are some of your favorite fast food items
(i.e., favorite burger, favorite Mexican food, & so on)?
Carls Jr. Western Bacon Cheeseburger and a plain old whopper if I'm on a work break.
I like Culver's the most, I suppose. But I'm not sure they've made it out to the west coast yet, so you may have not had/heard of it.
I also like A&W's Papa Burger, Burger King's Whopper, and In-N-Out
burgers.

I don't recall ever seeing wings at Taco Bell.. I just looked at their menu the app now to double check and didn't find them. ??

Aside from food, we drove out to Jerome for a couple days and it was a 20-30 degree difference from Peoria.

We have a Culver's now in Hope Mills, NC on the East Coast :-)
I tried it and wasn't bad, but wasn't my favorite either. May give
them another try this year.

Jerome is pretty cool. There's a haunted hotel, and then a separate
hotel that used to be an insane asylum. Trent Reznor and Maynard
both have houses there and their wives have wineries.. and I think
there was a good place for ice cream.

That's exactly why we went there. My wife was big on ghost shows at the time, where they all do lockdowns, etc. So when we planned the stay in Peoria she looked up haunted places to go. We stayed at the haunted hotel for a night, in their main suite with a giant bay window facing the parking lot (we were a group of 4). We did a ghost tour and also visited Maynard's winery/bar, although I didn't know Reznor had anything there. Checked out a bunch of little gift shops, and we also ate at the "Haunted Hamburger" and got some t-shirts.

Lots of stuff packed into a one week vacation. We only had a couple of actual days to enjoy our VRBO that had an outdoor kitchen and pool.

In 2010, I briefly moved to another town in my state for a job, and
there was a Cheba Hut there.

Also have an A&W close by, they have a bad fly infestation problem
there. Thats why I never go there.
Maybe too much stuff. Personally, I prefer a more free-form vacation. I pick a place I want to go, get there and then just see what happens. More relaxing that way.

That's too bad - I remember car hop service when I was growing up, with cold glass mugs of root beer. Although, I think you only got the mugs
with dine-in service, now that I think about it.
Back before Pepsi-co bought out A&W we had the drive up car services, Girls on rollerskates would bring the food out to your car. A&W was really good back then.
My wife and I recently visited Europe (Paris, Edinburgh, and London). We did book some activities ahead of time (sometimes that's even necessary for some activities), but we also wanted to have some free-form time.
Did you try their ghoulash or imbibbing their spirits? Of course
you gotta have a piece of booberry pie for desert. :)

Nice. We stayed in that hotel and saw some ghost crew with their PKE
meters and whatnot.
Know the feeling :). Went to Japan for two weeks and other than
while at Universal Studios, stayed in a different town/city each
night! It was non-stop movin'. Got to see a lot, but not nearly
everything on the list. IMO two weeks might not be enough to even
see just Tokyo.

We went to Italy a few years ago, and had a travel agent (they're still around!) plan the logistics. She even included down time and free time in the schedule!
As I'm fond of saying, Spontaneity has its time and its place...

when i was with my common law wife pookie, we would go to virginia every year for 2 weeks. her dad had a house on the lake.
Could be a regional thing. When I went out to L.A., an Arby's
there offered a pulled pork sandwitch which mine back home
didn't; hadn't even heard of it.

Do you remember which lake in VA? I'm in VA.
I saw a sign at a barbecue restaurant:
"I like my butt rubbed, and my pork pulled". <G>

Another long time Little Rock barbecue place has the slogan

Not only have a fished it quite a few times, but I remember fishing
in one or two of the ponds that were displaced when they filled
it.
It's a beautiful lake with a large striper population in it.
it can be dangerous due to the reckless boat drivers. i think
there's drowing deaths or boat related deaths every year.

I'm stealing that for a tagline :)

That's a rib tickler.
Not food-related, but there's a pet salon called Doggy Style,
with the sub-heading, "We do cats, too."
