From DUMAS WALKER@VERT/CAPCITY2/CAPCITY to MARISAG on Sun Dec 3 10:07:00 2017
    │ Great, have fun! :)

Well, I am able to connect and log on fine using Syncterm. However, when I
set the game up using telgate, it is not able to connect. Aside from the default telgate command line, are there any other special external program settings I should be using?

Right now, I am using the same external program settings in SCFG as are set
up to connect to the Vert BBS. I used those because I know that connection does work.

I either do not get any error message, or I get an "unable to connect" or
one of the "expected telnet" protocol errors. In other words, I get a different error every time I try. <grin> My synchronet output window does
not show any error messages, either. Just a message that telgate has
started and, 5 seconds later, that it disconnects.

    *telgate amigacitytw.xyz

I also tried, just for kicks:

    *telgate amigacitytw.xyz 23

    Thanks!

No, '*' or '?' as a prefix for JS scripts is fine.

No, '*' or '?' as a prefix for JS scripts is fine.

Thanks! Is there any difference between the two?

Yes. A '*' prefix will execute *either* a JS module or a Baja/bin module, with a preference for JS (exec/*.js will preempt exec/*.bin). A '?' prefix will execute *only* a JS module, no "fallback" to *.bin if the .js file doesn't exist.

    It says:

All of the other entries are of the same value as the entry for Vert in

Right, but to allow my users to telnet to it from my board, I have to set
it up as an external program, using telgate to make the connection. To do that, I have to set it up in SCFG in the online program (doors) section,
which puts it on the doors menu in SBBS.

How else would my SBBS system telnet to your server?

No, I have tried it. I cannot, and have not been able to since I upgraded synchronet. The older version of SCFG opened in a lxterminal window, which
had a toolbar that included copy and paste. The new version opens in a
native window, does not have a toolbar and, when I attempt to highlight the text, it will not stay highlighted and will not copy anywhere.

But I can copy by hand.

    Internal Code - TW2002AC
    Start up dir - blank
    Command line - *telgate amigacitytw.xyz
    Clean up - blank
    Cost - none
    Access Reqs - blank

    Multiple users - YES
    Drop file type - none
Place drop file in - node dir

    All Set NO:
    Intercept I/O
    Native Exec
    Use Shell
    Modify user data
    Exec on event
    Pause after exec

Time options are - NONE, NONE, NO, NO

That's it. The settings were all copied (actually, the entry was copied
from) the settings that do work to telnet to Vert.

telgate is firing up on this end, so I don't think it has anything to do with my SCFG settings anyway. It could have something to do with some other

They would access it byt whatever hotkey you setup in the command loop to run it. what are you telgate to? have you used a regular telnet program to try to access the same address? I think i'm missing some info here or something. It sounded to me like you wanted to set telgate up to run straight from your menu shell instead of running from your xtrn section. either way, if you are connecting to the host and not able to maintain the connection, it sounds like there is a issue on the host side.

No, I am wanting it to work as an external program and it is not.

I can connect using syncterm, but telgate attempts to establish a
connection, returns no errors, and exits after about 6 seconds.

telgate does work when attempting to connect with vert.
