Since 2005, there has been an annual event in my area organized to provide software developers with the chance to hear about interesting software topics, as well as to network with people. They bring in people who work in the industry and as instructors as software developers to present pretty much any topic they want related to software development. I went last year and thought it was fairly interesting; I saw someone presenting about the new C# 4.0 and another person presenting about software design. It's an all-day event that happens on a Saturday from 8:00AM to 10:00PM; they also give you lunch and dinner, and it's free (supported by donations). This is the URL: http://portlandcodecamp.org

I know many of you aren't in my area, but it's something I thought was interesting and wanted to share.

That is interesting and I'm glad you shared it with us. If you go to this meeting, it'd be interesting to hear what you got out of it this year.

    Sincerely,
    Jon Justvig
