  • Synch 3.15b error

    11/15 08:36:17a Node 1 !JavaScript e:\Bbs\sbbs\exec\login.js line 36: ReferenceError: LEN_ALIAS is not defined


    I used to run Synch, and have run 3.15b sucessfully in the past, I recently decided to set my BBS back up, and when I upgraded to 3.15b, I suddenly get
    the above referenced message when I try to log on using the local login
    option. Can you tell me how I might be able to fix this before I open
    the "doors" back up so to speak?

    I think you need to run jsexec upgrade from your \sbbs\exec directory

    Ok, so I ran that and it said the following:

    SBBSCTRL environment variable not set and -c option not specified.

    Example: SET SBBSCTRL=/sbbs/ctrl
    or: jsexec -c /sbbs/ctrl [module]
    Returning error code: 1

    Any ideas?

    I think you need to run jsexec upgrade from your \sbbs\exec directory

    LOL........ I would have thought that I would have remembered that since I was a sync sysop for years... oh well. It is working now. Now if I can just get 3.16, and get my ports opened through verizon..... They seem to be blocking
    all the crucial ports, even though I have them forwarded in the router...

    It's on the Wiki now, but the README.TXT included in the v3.15b upgrade includes these instructions (which most sysops miss):

    3. Copy the exec/* files into your EXEC directory (recursively),
    overwriting existing files.

    NOTE:
    Any JS files in your new EXEC/LOAD directory that are also in your EXEC
    directory must be deleted. Example (files to be deleted from EXEC):
    ars_defs.js
    coldfuncs.js
    gnatslib.js
    graphic.js
    irc-cyan.js
    irc-default.js
    ircd_*.js
    irclib.js
    lightbar.js
    nodedefs.js
    sbbsdefs.js
    sockdefs.js
    text.js
    uifcdefs.js
    user_info_to_sysop.js

    If you follow the directions, you don't *need* to run "jsexec update.js". The update.js just automates the dupliate file deletion mentioned above.

    What OS is this under? You might want the set the SBBSCTRL environment variable in the approrprate section in Windows settings before startin SBBS. Or just use EXPORT SBBSCTRL=<pathtosbbs>/ctrl if under *NIX (and running the bash shell)
