• Inter BBS chat module

From Kc2ugv@VELENO/VERT/KC2UGV to All on Thu Sep 12 10:34:04 2013
I'm curious as to how to get a BBS to show on the inter bbs chat list. As far as I know, all service ports are opened to my BBS, and all are working. Is there some master list to join in order to get this, or is it a curated list?

    Thanks in advance fokls.

First you need your BBS int shared Synchronet BBS List (SBL) database. You check http://synchro.net/sbbslist.html to see if your BBS is listed. If it is, and it's ports are all open for inter-bbs msging, your BBS should also be in the sbbsimsg.lst file.

So, I'm in the list, and all my ports are opened in my router. Are there specific ports to verify?

I think the nightly checker checks Telnet (obviously), SMTP, and Finger. Though
the actual inter-BBS messaging uses different (UDP) protocols now. So I guess you'll need to have all of them up and listening. I should check that (it's on my todo list to overhaul the BBS list module).

I still am at a loss with this one. Somedays I wish I weren't a completionist. I doubt many use the feature, but I can't get it to work on my bbs (oxfordmi) no matter what I do. Same 9 or 10 systems listed every time I look. All ports are open for TCP/UDP and I am on the list.
