• Issue posting and polling AgoraNet stuff

From peconi@46:1/100 to All on Wed Sep 28 15:53:54 2016
    Hey all,

I set up AgoraNet on my Mystic BBS, however, I am not able to poll any of the messages.

./fidopoll 46:1/100 works without issues (i.e. it's not an auth problem), but it polls 0 messages:

Have you connected to the agoranet areas with areafix? You would do that by sending a netmail to areafix @ 46:1/100 from your 46:1/??? address with your password on the subject line and the commands to connect those areas.

... If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything.

I sent netmail to areafix @ 46:1/100 but I have not gotten a reply. I did check logs and it does seem that the netmail leaves my system, and fidopoll send gets issued and it gets delivered to the 46:1/100 node, alas, no reply from AreaFix to my request to:
    %+ALL
    %RESCAN
    %LINKED
    %UNLINKED

Oh, wait a minute.. this is agoranet.. ;)

You can rescan the areas by sending a netmail to areafix with your password on the subject line and adding %rescan to the body of the message.

Is that what you want to do?

There was a change recently to the areafix in synchronet. You may need to do "%rescan adn_gen" and the other areas one by one now.

I still believe there may be an issue as I do not get a reply from AreaFix at all. Shouldn't I get a reply all the time, even if it doesn't understand the request?

Yes, you should get a reply from areafix. I'm not sure why you are not. Might have to ask Nick if he he can see what the problem is.

I know i have the text of areafix's help file here, I have seen it but I'll be darned if I can find it right now. I would try sending a message to areafix with just %help in the body and double check the password you are using. If that doesn't get a reply we'll have to ask Nick to look into it and see what the problem is.

I know that synchronets areafix changed recently with regards to rescanning areas. You may get all the areas with %rescan or you may need to rescan each area individualy. I haven't done a rescan since those changes were made so you might have to let us know how it works now.. :)

Your netmails are coming in as being from 1:1/0. So, at the moemnt, I can only have reason to believe your netmail area isn't setup properly.

Areafix can not sent a netmail reply to 1:0/0, as that is not a node number used by anyone.

Al helped in fsxNet forum. Restarting Mystic made it all work instantly.

Thanks to both for your help. You should now be seeing this message from now on.

Nick - can you also Crash send me any mail directly to the node? bbs.pattycakemafia.com:24554 :)

    Thanks!

If that's what you stated on your application, that's how I have you setup. I tend to put systems on HOLD status only when they're known for being down for long periods of time (ie: they don't check on their systems very much).

    Welcome aboard!
