Recently I bought a 4K PC monitor on eBay (normally I prefer to buy such items from a local store, but this looked like a fairly good deal). I found that the monitor had a high-pitched noise when turned on, and the the amount. The seller says the monitor was returned with a cracked

return process and shipped the item back. I stated the reason was due to the high-pitched noise. Today the seller issued a refund, but only half the amount. The seller says the monitor was returned with a cracked screen. I've contacted the seller so far to say the screen wasn't cracked, but unfortunately I didn't think to take pictures of the monitor before returning it. I'm not sure if I'm out of luck on this one, or if the seller is trying to scam me..
Oh man. I hope it works out for you. I've been getting scamed a lot lately on Ebay. Have you tried Ebid?? I'm trying to move away from Ebay. They will let anyone sell on their platform. Their customer support also sucks. I can't understand a word they say.
Does the seller have decent feedback? has anyone complained about returns/support? It's possible the seller has also had issues with people returning things after they've accidentally broken it, if they're reasonable I'm sure things can be worked out.
The seller has 97.2% positife feedback with 6,566 feedback comments. There are some negative ones sprinkled in there, but I fugred 97.2% is fairly good. Most of the negative feedback seems to be for missing accessories, etc.. The monitor I got didn't have anything missing, just the high-pitched noise it generated when it was turned on.

I'd take the guy's word for it, only because of that much positive feedback and comments. It probably got cracked in transit back to him, which sucks for you both, tbh.
Well yeah, but his quick response to the crack seemed like he thought
the crack was my fault and was basically charging me half the price for the crack. It wasn't cracked when I shipped it back, so if the carrier cracked it in transit, that wasn't my fault. It was a pre-paid return shipping label; I suppose shipping insurance could have been added to
the return label and the seller could have dealt with the shipper if the screen was cracked.

Did the return shipping have any sort of insurance? I returned a really expensive mechanical keyboard a few years back and it got completely lost, so the company refused to refund and I had no hardware.
FYI, your website is down. Getting a suspended message on the pages over at throwbackbbs.com
I'm aware. I don't get paid until tomorrow. =\
Completely understand. It's amazing the cost of this free hobby.
