I tried the speed, and its pretty awesome to download stuff at 96mb/sec (Megabyte per second!!)

Nice hardware man! I choose a laptop because of the WIFi and that its pretty small and doesnt make alot of sound. Even that i have alot of space in my
house i really need everything nice and tidy and i hade when my house is
messy.

I have a FTP running on the BBS, not the Mystic BBS because i want more
control over ratio, leeching etc. If anyone want an account on the FTP please let me know.

For the most part, recycled hardware is completely adequate for the purpose of running a BBS.

For the most part, recycled hardware is completely adequate for the purpose of running a BBS.

I agree! The laptop i found was not doing anything, just collecting dust. The main reason why i did the change was to get rid of the noise... this laptop
is not taking the same space, i can remotely administrate it via RDP (on the LAN) and also its much more quiet.

Nice! Distortion is also on synchronous gigabit as of earlier this week. For the first time since I've had broadband at home my upload seems are actually higher than my downloads most of the time. :)

I can actually get it from, I believe, 4 different providers in my neighborhood, though the one I'm using is the cheapest - Webpass, owned by Google Fiber. $45 bucks a month if you prepay for a year. So far so good.

Things have changed quite a bit over the last decade in regards to internet speeds. I remember having to pay extra for 50m down/5m up, and now the standard
speed here is 225/10 or something like that, but around here we're still limited compared to what you have anyway.

It's still mostly the same around here, but better broadband availability is one of the perks I have living so close to downtown so I decided to take advantage of it. Towns outside of the city, or even other parts of the city, aren't so lucky. I *was* paying $60 for 400mb down (that got bumped up to
500) ~15 up from Comcast until then, and even that was more than what a lot
of people could get.

Most of the fiber providers in my immediate area are actually only running circuits to a few specific (tall) buildings, then using line of sight
wireless (usually microwave, I think) to other tall buildings in the area. As you can imagine the availability is pretty limited. :/
