Probably won't happen for various reasons but my old friend Keetar
from Sadist is still drawing amazing rip screens.
Does anyone know who else is at the rip workbench in this new age?
Deuce sent me a massive 90s-era RIP art he uses for testing SyncTERM's
RIP support. I was shocked. I had no idea so much RIP art had been
created and most of it created after the heyday of BBSing had passed.

I think that was the rip screen of the cyber skull that had a Synchonet
logo on it. Am I rite? I know my rip screens :)
I know the Synchronet-themed RIP art by DWM very well (I think I paid
him to create some of it). I was shocked at all the *other* RIP art that
I didn't existed and was created in the mid-late 90's, long after I stopped thinking or caring (much) about RIP.

I'll have to do a search on 16 colors for DwM RIP art. would love to see all his work.

https://16colo.rs/search/ did not pull up anything for DwM unfortunately
Do you know if he was in any any group back then?

Why did you stop thinking and caring about RIP? I thought it was going to change the entire BBS scene. I was dead wrong. What made you give up on it DM?
RIP supports using a mouse and I thought that was what was going change BBS'n. Heck even Frank LaRosa closed up shop. I guess I'm still scratchin my head over it. lol

I have all those rip screens. He was soooooooo good!
Always loved that one of the tank crunching over the field of skulls
and the the P47 warbird! He did a really nice Messerschmitt also.
Great stuff!
But I still think graphics, high (24-bit) color text/block-art, good
mouse support are things that BBS users would appreciate using more regularly. --
Piranha bounces me off when I tried to type the address in.

Would that be difficult to work on a new standard that could enhance original RIP idea? I got intrigued by this whole RIP thing quite recently, still I cannot access board that can help me experience it for real.
Double check the address: piranha.acid.org:27
Are you calling with RIPTel or another RIP client?
Possibly your IP was sent to the blacklist if you hammered the board.
now as I'm on Mac, I'm trying SyncTerm. if that fails then I'll try RIPTerm/Tel, that's ok.
that this board only allows IP approved proxies, thus I started
suspecting it my be GEO/IP blocking on some pattern.
Your country may possibly be blocked! What country are you calling from and I can check for blocking on my end.
Also, for me personally, I didn't like RIPterm enough as a client to totally replace Telix (my terminal of choice). And RIP support came late to other terminal programs (Windows only versions too, if I recall) andWhy did you stop thinking and caring about RIP? I thought it was go
I can see your point. I remember it being a hard sell to get folks to switch terminal software. People weren't tired of ANSI yet. In fact I had a few users still using VT100. Once windows 95 came out it was a whole new ball game.

I always saw RIP as being another option to ANSI and ASCII. Plus, I had registered my ternimal software because I quite liked it, so I was not very likely to migrate (and my terminal program integrated support for RIP).
