Here's what it will probably look like when you get your hands on it:

I'm not sure what kind of computer everyone has, but some may not be
able to keep up with the workload. I recommend a way to disable it; or,
to toggle the amount of information that gets posted.

I bought a new box for the BBS about 6 weeks ago. It's not a gaming
system for sure, but it has four cores running at 1.8 with 4 G ram and a TB of HD space. It sits in a nice heavy box about twice the size of a laptop. It has the specs you'd expect to see in a mid-range laptop but
is in a case with good cooling that easily slips out of sight.

Changing the look of will not make it require additional resources.
MIS uses almost zero resources. Mystic runs great on the original Pi which is basically a Pentium 300, and could still run in DOS... so
you're pretty safe.
SDL mode for MIS, which would increase the memory resources by like 10 fold...
Just putting a 1080p video buffer into memory is like 15 times what
My preference would be to be able to see everything at a glance, not to switch tabs.
My ideal WFC screen would:
So your connections and stats tabs are displayed on the one page, the various servers - telnet, binkp etc. are toggeled on or off by hotkey or ini file or somesuch so a sysop can choose to die of info overload or
not :)
How would you show connections waiting for a call or would you set it up with a toggle option to show only active connections and/or all ports ?
What do you think?

wow, im still wondering about the comments in your source code in
regards to your own graphics routines. Just saying :)
In a way I think we're both saying the same thing, less places to visit
to see data and the ablility to dive deep / scroll further etc. if we
want and/or add/remove some elements to suit needs...

Based on your feedback I would like to see if I can think of a good way
to make it configurable so that something a little closer to what you would like to see could be done.
Tekhammer pretty cool pondering, I suppose this area can be used to include server connections like smtp. pop, binkp and stuff since they require a node for the client to connect.

Well lets be realistic here. How many connections do you think are
going to be active at one time? Are you *really* going to need to
filter a connections list to show only one server type?
How would you show connections waiting for a call or would you set it with a toggle option to show only active connections and/or all ports
I question why should MIS need to show a "waiting for connection" at all?
If you allow up to 50 FTP connections, 50 BINKP sessions, 50 SMTP, 50 POP3, 50 telnet, etc... you are saying you want Mystic to show you like 500 "Waiting for connection" lines in the status screen? I don't think
we need that information there at all as it really serves no purpose.
My example gives one place to see connections for all servers, and that
is the place where you interact with every connection. So how can I
make it less than that?
In the example I provided you can see and interact with all servers and people on it, all stats and messages, without pressing more than a single button...
I question why should MIS need to show a "waiting for connection" at all?
with me. Needless information and bulk data that I can easily find in a log or text file.. is good enough for me. That reminds me, if mystic had some kinda why to export parts of it's config to a readable text file.

Sounds good Al. That's the sort of thing I would like to get when I next upgrade.
