It's a map of Canada with a Canadian flag superimposed on it. Kind of a neat ansi.

Dang, I couldn't tell where the flag was located at, maybe if the Yukon territories was also marked in respect to it's location in Canada. I would
have guessed correctly. Would be interesting to see a ansi topographical map
of the same area with detailed territory line marks labled (:

Yep, that ansi tries to cover a lot of ground with only 24 rows and 80 columns!

thing is that many systems have header areas and a footer line or two in their readers... that means an ansi only has about 16 lines and 79 columns to play in before starting to scroll... one should never go to column 80 because it generally causes an automatic scroll upwards...

so we're not only talking about the line lengths of the lines inside the ansi but also the drawing area...

    Hello wkitty42,

This version of golded is doing something odd with the subject lines. I'm probably going back to the last version for now.

Yep, I did read but haven't responded yet to your reply a few days ago. I have a copy of thedraw here abouts and will try that.

g00r00 said that mystic takes care of that internally if I read him right so msgs posted in mystic are likely OK but I'll look more at all that.

so we're not only talking about the line lengths of the lines inside
the ansi but also the drawing area...

Yep, getting those msgs to display as expected on all systems may be a little complex..

weird... i'm not seeing that... accession had a similar problem in the past but i don't recall what it involved... i think maybe when he was attempting to use GED with mystic's JAM areas but he should remember more about that...

what message base format are you using?
what software manages your message areas?
are you building GED on your system or using a pre-built binary?
    what OS?

FWIW: i pull GED's sources from the repo and build them locally... AFAIK my
GED is 64bit when all is said and done...

    $ file ~/fido/bin/gedlnx
/home/myuser/fido/bin/gedlnx: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.24, BuildID[sha1]=f342eefb0b8a24d7d5290d223ddfd494efe8e0fb, not stripped

i doubt that has anything to do with your subject line problem, though...

Yep, I remeber reading something about that and at the time I had not seen it. It's odd that I am seeing it now.. :)

what message base format are you using?
what software manages your message areas?

On this box I am using squish msg bases with fidoconfig/hpt/htick to handle everything that comes in here and it gets passed on to the BBS from here.

The BBS needs work though.. :)

are you building GED on your system or using a pre-built binary?
    what OS?

I build GED from the shell script in the source archive or from CVS. I don't have that archive here to look in but I think it's called build-gpl.sh or something similar. It builds GED and then packs it in archives like you would see on the golded sourceforge page.

    The OS is Slackware 14.1.

FWIW: i pull GED's sources from the repo and build them locally...
AFAIK my GED is 64bit when all is said and done...

The output of file is the same here except mine is stripped. I could probably just run make to get an unstripped gedlnx but have never tried that.

I'm not seeing that either with the latest version of GED.

The subject line mangling had to do with Mystic at the time, as I was directly accessing Mystic's message bases and Mystic did something funky with the subject line at the time. This was before g00r00 addressed all the JAM fixes though. I don't think there's any issues with GED and Mystic's JAM message bases anymore.
